A targeted business delegation to Ghana is being organized to facilitate market entry for German SMEs specializing in energy efficiency and climate-friendly solutions, with a focus on the industrial refrigeration and construction sectors. The initiative aims to strengthen bilateral partnerships, raise awareness of German technologies, and identify local opportunities for sustainable energy solutions. The consultant will support the delegation by conducting market analysis, organizing stakeholder engagements, and providing strategic recommendations to enhance German SME participation in Ghana’s energy efficiency sector.

Qualifications

The consultant should have the following qualifications and competences: 

Technical Proficiency 

  • Proven experience in energy efficiency, renewable energy, or sustainable infrastructure, particularly in emerging markets.
  • Strong understanding of Ghana’s energy sector, including policies, market dynamics, and key stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with German SME offerings in energy management (e.g., refrigeration, green building technologies).

Market Research & Analytical Skills 

  • Ability to conduct a target market analysis (TMA) profiling local players, demand trends, and competitive landscapes.
  • Track record of developing actionable recommendations for market entry strategies.

Stakeholder Engagement & Networking 

  • Established connections with Ghanaian industry associations, government bodies (e.g., Energy Commission), and private sector actors.
  • Experience in designing and moderating workshops, roundtables, or technical conferences.

Regional Experience 

  • Prior work in Ghana or West Africa on energy/climate projects is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of challenges and opportunities in Ghana’s industrial and construction sectors.

Reporting & Coordination 

  • Strong project management skills, including timeline adherence and deliverables tracking.
  • Ability to produce high-quality reports with market insights, stakeholder mappings, and post-trip recommendations.
