This initiative aims to support international companies in the life sciences sector in entering and expanding within the Kenyan market. The consultant will play a key role in identifying relevant opportunities, initiating strategic connections, and facilitating market access. The expert is expected to possess demonstrable experience in the life sciences field with solid in-market networks and insight into the regulatory and innovation landscape.

Responsibilities

The consultant will be expected to: 

  • Provide expert market insights, intelligence, and analysis on Kenya’s life sciences ecosystem.
  • Leverage existing networks to arrange and facilitate B2B meetings and market visits.
  • Guide international firms through regulatory requirements and local standards.
  • Monitor and report on emerging opportunities, policy developments, and partnerships.
  • Offer tailored support to clients including briefings, introductions, and meeting coordination.
  • Deliver timely and detailed feedback and reporting on all market engagements.

Sector Knowledge 

  • Demonstrable expertise and deep knowledge of the life sciences sector in East Africa.
  • Familiarity with relevant sub-sectors such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, diagnostics, or health research.
  • Strong grasp of policy, regulatory, and innovation frameworks in Kenya.

Professional Experience 

  • Minimum of 9 years of professional experience in the life sciences sector.
  • At least 7 years advising or supporting international firms with African market entry strategies.
  • Minimum of 5 years working within Kenya’s healthcare, life sciences, or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Proven track record of in-market networking and business development.

Key Competencies 

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Capacity to produce high-quality written reports, briefings, and sector analysis.
  • Fluency in English; Kiswahili is an advantage.
  • Experience working with government entities, research institutions, and private sector stakeholders.
