This initiative aims to promote the integration of agricultural produce into nutrition programs in Ethiopia. The Nutrition Consultant will identify opportunities for nutrition programming, training, facilitating partnerships, and provide insights into dietary needs and trends. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in nutrition, experience with plant-based diets, training and capacity building, and a robust local network.
Responsibilities
- Nutritional Analysis: Provide expert insights into the nutritional benefits of agricultural produce and their role in plant-based diets.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with local institutions, culinary schools, and NGOs to promote nutrition education and training.
- Program Development: Design and implement nutrition programs focused on integrating agricultural produce into local diets.
- Training Facilitation: Develop and deliver training sessions on nutrition, culinary applications, and dietary programming for local stakeholders.
- Regulatory Guidance: Advise on compliance with local nutrition standards and policies.
- Client Support: Deliver tailored workshops, seminars, and demonstrations to enhance understanding of nutrition and its applications.
- Reporting: Submit detailed feedback on program engagements, including summaries and actionable recommendations.
Qualifications and Experience
The consultant should have the following qualifications and competences:
Sector Knowledge:
- Demonstrable expertise in nutrition, particularly related to plant-based diets.
- Familiarity with East Africa’s (especially Ethiopia's) nutritional landscape, including key stakeholders and institutions.
Professional Experience:
- Registered Dietitian or master's degree in nutrition or public health.
- Experience in developing nutrition programs focused on plant-based diets.
- Experience in developing and delivering training programs in the food industry.
- Knowledge of culinary applications and nutrition is essential.
- Public communication and stakeholder engagement.
Key Competencies:
- Strong communication and Presentation skills.
- Ability to produce high-quality reports and market briefs.
- Fluency in English (Amharic or local dialect is a plus).
