This initiative supports international technology enterprises in entering and expanding within the Kenyan market. The consultant will provide sector-specific market development expertise to enable strategic engagements, identify relevant opportunities, and foster B2B linkages across Kenya’s dynamic tech ecosystem.

Responsibilities

The consultant will be expected to: 

  • Deliver market intelligence and insights for the technology sector.
  • Leverage existing sector networks to facilitate B2B connections.
  • Proactively scout for opportunities and introduce them to client enterprises.
  • Prepare briefings, arrange market visits, and support in-country delegations.
  • Support policy and regulatory navigation in Kenya's technology and innovation landscape.

Sector Knowledge 

  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge of the technology sector, especially in East Africa.
  • Understanding of Kenya’s ICT ecosystem, start-up landscape, digital infrastructure, and innovation hubs.
  • Familiarity with sub-sectors such as software, cloud services, AI, fintech, smart infrastructure, or health tech.

Professional Experience 

  • Minimum of 9 years of professional experience in the technology or innovation sectors.
  • At least 7 years of experience working with or advising international companies on African market entry.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience within Kenya’s technology landscape.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain a strategic in-market contact network.

Key Competences 

  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Experience arranging and facilitating business meetings and market visits.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Kiswahili or German is an asset.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality written outputs such as reports and sector briefings.
